Frequently Asked Questions
What does ‘double gorilla trekking’ mean?
It means trekking two separate, differently located gorilla families on two consecutive days, in this case in Bwindi’s Buhoma and Ruhija sectors, giving you two distinct encounters within a single short trip.
Why fly rather than drive to Bwindi?
The overland drive from Kampala or Entebbe to Bwindi takes 7 to 9 hours each way. Flying to Kihihi airstrip cuts this to under 2 hours, making a 4-day double-trek itinerary realistic within a short trip.
Do I need two separate gorilla permits?
Yes, since you are trekking two different gorilla families on two different days, two separate permits are required, both included in this itinerary’s price.
Is this itinerary physically demanding?
Yes, gorilla trekking on consecutive days is a genuinely demanding itinerary. Reasonable fitness is recommended, and hiring a porter for each trek is a good idea regardless of fitness level.
